Instagram | May Update

May 2, 2016

Wow, it’s May. The year is already more than 1/3rd over and it feels like it’s just beginning for me because wedding season has arrived. I am thrilled that it’s finally warm out and actually, since I had this weekend off from weddings, I spent some time planting a peony in my tiny little patch of mulch that is my yard. We live in a townhouse so yards don’t really exist in this neighborhood. We’re lucky in that we don’t mow and we don’t have to water anything but something we do long for is hammocks and outdoor BBQs. Since we can’t have that, we thought it would be nice to plant something happy and springy that we can look forward to. My roommate and I went to the nearby garden center and bought an overpriced but beautiful peony and although it hasn’t bloomed, I’m SO excited for when it finally does. What is it about that particular flower that brings me so much joy?! When I see a bride with any type of peony-focused bouquet, I freak! 🙂

This weekend was also fun because I taught my roommate to crochet, which is a hobby of mine that I’ve let go of unintentionally. I learned from my very talented grandma when I was about nine and I used to make hats and scarves all the time! I forgot how calming and fun it is! I dreamed a little big and decided to make a blanket but I’ve already finished a roll and a half of yarn and my blanket is two inches tall….. SO, I either need to turn it into a scarf or go buy twelve more rolls of yarn from Michael’s worth $5 each. Haha!! Crocheting is incredibly time consuming — even more so than knitting — but it’s a fun thing to do to stay entertained while watching a movie or TV show and I’m glad I picked up this fun little hobby again! 🙂 I’ll be sure to let you know if I ever finish the blanket. It might be a few years.

As I mentioned in a previous post, the rest of this month is full of weddings! I’ll be gone every weekend for a wedding and my weeks will be full of editing but there’s a little secret announcement that I’m excited to make, hopefully this month, so keep your ears peeled! For now, I’d love to know from you lovely blog readers if there are any topics you’d like me to cover! It can be photography-related or not. Feel free to leave a comment or email me because I’d love to start a bi-monthly blog series! <3 Enjoy your Monday!
