This maternity shoot might be an all time favorite and I am SO excited to be sharing it today. I do not know what was going on with the light this day but it was pure magic. It’s so funny because I remember showing up to scout for this shoot and being worried the sun was too harsh. The sun moves drastically throughout the year so on the north shore (and anywhere on Oahu), the sun will set at a different place throughout the year. For this shoot, the sun was setting RIGHT behind the mountain the direction I love to shoot on this beach which can be a little tricky for someone who shoots backlit. You’ll notice in the beginning of the shoot, I had to shoot in a way that didn’t show the beach because it was literally too bright.

As always, being challenged forced me to see things differently and I ended up loving those shots! As the sun got lower in the sky, I was able to shoot with the water a bit more and this is really where the magic happened! Shruti’s second dress with the sunset and the ocean crashing was actually unreal! The first shot of them in that second outfit in this post is one of my favorite images I’ve ever taken! It goes to show how important outfit selection is!! Her dress flowed so perfectly in the wind and the color was perfect for her!!

I’m learning all about how every person has a different color palate and you really need to choose colors that compliment your skin tone and hair! It makes a HUGE difference. I definitely think this burnt orange is Shruti’s color! Okay, I’m done raving over them but I hope you all enjoy scrolling through their maternity photos today!!
