I had the privilege of photographing Melissa and Alex’s Charlottesville engagement session not too long before I moved! They had just booked our team for their wedding but since I was still in Virginia, I got to do their engagement shoot. I am SO glad I did because it was an absolute blast. We shot this past fall at UVA and while the trees hadn’t quite turned yet, it was the most magical weather and dreamy light. They even brought their sweet pup which obviously made the shoot even more fun than it already would have been. Haha!

Virginia has such a beautiful charm. Going back through all these shoots from last year is so nostalgic and puts a smile on my face. Hawaii is my favorite place on the planet but Virginia holds most of my memories and is where my business began. In fact, one of my very first shoots was at the University of Virginia, where this one took place. And I had endless other shoots there every year since. It’s such a special place to me and always will be. I am obsessed with Hawaii and don’t see myself leaving but I do miss Virginia, especially in the summer and fall!

For this shoot, we walked all over the grounds to capture lots of different scenery and backdrops and you’ll see towards the end, but I was dying over the purple grasses!! That has only been in bloom one other time when I planned a UVA shoot. It is so dreamy at sunset!

I am so excited to share these and for our associate Sarah to capture Melissa and Alex’s day at Mount Ida in September this year! Melissa and Alex, you guys were such a joy to photograph and get to know! Your wedding is going to be such a special day and we can’t wait!
